Data Science Software Engineer
Location: Wommelgem, Antwerp; Drongen, Ghent (Belgium)
To support OMP's strong growth in the Forecasting domain, the Forecasting development team within OMP is looking for a Data Science Software Engineer.
Forecasting is a key element for integrated supply chain planning. Demand can be generated through a collaborative process, best fit statistical forecasting strategies, aggregation and breakdown rules and accuracy measurements. The Forecasting module is designed to increase forecast reliability, manages changing demand complexity and provides fast and intelligent solutions.
As a Data Science Software Engineer you are responsible for the technical analysis and development of cutting edge statistical algorithms and expert systems to predict future demand. You also act as an expert for the users of the statistical forecasting module. Next to this, you will work together with your team members on improvements of the Forecasting functionality in OMP+, by performing analyses and developments.
You have a Master in a Mathematical, Scientific or Engineering field. Having a PhD in one of these fields is a definite advantage.
You are experienced with the practical application of time series forecasting algorithms and diverse techniques in the areas of Data Science and Machine Learning. Terms such as regression, clustering, overfitting, cross validation, data leakage, supervised vs. unsupervised learning, are all very familiar to you.
You also have a solid IT background. Working knowledge of Object Oriented Programming, preferably C++, is an asset. Hands-on experience with R or Python is appreciated as well.
As you will work on complex mathematical software, you need to be very analytical, creative and have strong mathematical and statistical ability. Since our software deals with big data sets, you should know about techniques to keep computational complexity under control and to optimize the use of hardware resources.
You have experience working on team projects and are able to communicate effectively with other software developers and data scientists.
You are fluent in English.
You are fun to work with and a great team player.
